Just finally got around to playing the demo today as I missed out on all the beta testing for this. It's a really nice game but I found it far too easy!
I think I'll buy the game anyway but it would be really nice to see the difficulty level tuned or at least made adjustable. Perhaps reducing the number of potions lying around would be the quickest fix as increasing the number of monsters would only get you levelling up quicker!
On a related note, I played the demo via Kongregate and found the comments there to be mostly laughable. I would love to see those peoples' faces if their boss told them they weren't getting paid for their day's work because he didn't think they worked hard enough. It must be hugely dispiriting to read those kinds of remarks but keep up the good work!
Would it be possible to adjust itself automatically? I.e. if the game sees that you're levelling up but not using up your potions or spells it either reduces the number of goodies lying around or spawns new monsters at the stairway down (or if you're near that room, where you entered the floor from the one above). That way you could have a difficulty level that related to how much the game responded to how you were playing rather than arbitrary penalities per se.
Anyhow, I did end up buying it and am really enjoying it. The full game is definitely a little bit harder than the demo. Unfortunately it's just after hanging on me as I was doing really well on floor 7. :-(
I presume the forum is the best place to log bug reports so I'll make a note of these and post something later on, not that Windows 7 seems to give much in the way of useful information.

I've been thinking of adding difficulty levels.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that there are still many more people who complain the game is too hard than those who complain it is too easy!
